Rock Steady Boxing is a health and wellness program designed for people with Parkinson's Disease, a neurological condition that affects balance, strength, walking, and especially confidence. It is based upon a foundation of non-contact boxing, and it's very effective for improving all of the symptoms that people with PD typically experience.
RSB is an effective training method that's hugely beneficial for people in all stages of PD, including those who have just been diagnosed and those who have lived with PD debilitation for decades. RSB helps those with PD move easier and safely while improving their posture, flexibility, and resistance to injury. Three coaches are generally on hand for support.
Classes are typically an hour and a half long starting with a good warm up which may include voice work, warming up the muscles including face muscles. We use cognitive drills, group games, flexibility and strength drills. we work on balance and LARGE movements! Warm up is followed by intense non-contact boxing using a speed bag, mitts with a coach, bags, a BOB, drills for active everyday living. Classes end with a good cool down and stretches.
